A group of established artists assembled in the extremely popular group “Divanhana”, with their performance of Sevdalinka, have been connecting hearts, attracting audiences and weaving the story of Sevdah, as a way of life, all over the world.
That the Bosnian spirits and Sevdah certainly exist in Turkey is well proven by the latest recognition of the creativity and beauty in the performance of popular Divanhana.
In fact, the band members have just returned from Istanbul where they were awarded in the category of “Best artist from Bosnia and Herzegovina” within the frame of event “The Best of Rumeli”.
Recognition were given in 17 various categories in the fields of science, art, journalism and social activity.
“We are honored and happy that this year’s recognition has gone to us. Our music has taken us to many countries around the world and we are extremely happy that Turkey was also on that list, a country with which we share a certain part of history.
Guided by idea that, when two cultures meet they inevitability enrich each other, a few years ago we did a great project with artists from Turkey. Therefore, this ceremony was a great opportunity to spread Sevdah, renew our friendships and build our bridges for some future generations”, said Selma Droce, vocalist of the band Divanhana.
This year’s edition of “The best of Rumeli” is the sixth in line and the initiator and the organizer is RUBAFED (Rumeli Balkan Dernekleri Federasyonu), an organization founded in 2006 with the goal of establishing and maintaining friendly and partnership relations with the countries of Balkan.
